I am trying to plan a gospel music tour in China?

Any advice? What places to hit? Do you think it will go over well considering China is a Communist Country with alot of people into Buddhism?

  1. Your music can be construed as an attempt to proselytize, something that is illegal in China.

If you go through legal channels, you will need to contact various Three Self Churches in China. This site has a list of them:

It’s always best to work on an invitation basis. I have seen many well-meaning groups come into China, full of good intentions, only to cause trouble for nationals and for themselves. Keep everything above board and you’ll be fine.

    Good luck!

I wouldn’t bother. There are very few Christians in China. Many Chinese have no religion at all. All their government isn’t going to want you being there.

You’ll have to get approval for the songs you’ll sing from the government. I don’t know that they would give it. They are pretty cool about Christians coming into China as long as you don’t SEEM to be proselytizing. Lots of missionaries teach English in China, but they do their converting in their homes and not in public. Then it can be construed as conversation between a student and teacher, not proselytizing. As for places to hit, go for cities that have churches. Just keep in mind that some of the parishioners are only there for the free food some churches offer and don’t really care about god at all.
